Beyond the Beltway- Great Spots for Government Meetings: Atlanta

The next city in our Beyond the Beltway series is Atlanta, Georgia. Looking at the federal employee population across the country, there are some interesting concentrations that lend themselves to some targeted events. Atlanta is the home of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as offices for many related Health and Human Services agencies. There are over 44,000 federal employees in the Atlanta metro area. The largest military presence is the Army with seven bases in Georgia. Atlanta is also an easy hub for travel from anywhere in the country, particularly east coast cities.

We took a look at some event locations that may provide a unique fit for Atlanta based events.

  • Historic Academy of Medicine - if you are catering to the CDC/HHS population, what better place than the home of the oldest medical society in Atlanta? The venue features a 230 seat theater as well as space for social gatherings.
  • The Wimbish House - With multiple rooms of varying sizes, this historic home will provide a unique backdrop for events in the heart of Atlanta.
  • Fuse Art Center -- Atlanta has a large number of gallery spaces available for rent (thanks to its vibrant, if somewhat secret, art scene). The Fuse Art Center is has 1400 square feet of space in the the historic M Rich Building. The open space is great for networking events or would work for a luncheon speaker.
  • Coze Event Space - while the space does have a cozy feel, there is ample room for a lunchtime panel event or an evening cocktail hour (100 standing, 56 seated). Located in the heart of downtown, this 100 year-old converted space provides a great option for small events.

Where in Atlanta have you had a "peachy" time? Tell us all about it in the comments.
