October is Cybersecurity Month and many organizations have taken the call to use these 31 days to educate and collaborate on solutions for a more secure cyber world.   • October 7: Creating a Culture of Cybersecurity at Work (webinar) - The National Association of Counties will hold a series of webinars throughout the month with this one focusing on how organizations can enhance their security practices with widely available training and educational resources.
  • October 13: Closing the Desktop Security Vulnerability (webinar) - The combination of connectivity and skill can increase the risk of malicious intrusion at the desktop. This event, featuring the director of the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), will talk through NIAP's new requirements as well as the new Peripheral Sharing Switch Protection Profile (PSS PP 3.0).

Events that Lunch: Space for Lunchtime Events in DC

In the competitive market for people's time and attention, lunch events are a great option for organizations looking to make a connection with attendees. After-hours events are difficult for some to manage as they need to balance family care after work, however, everyone needs to eat lunch. Why not help your audience use that time effectively?

While lunches can be large hotel ballroom gatherings, there is a great opportunity to use the lunch hour(s) for smaller, more intimate events. Smaller lunches offer a great opportunity for real speaker and audience interaction (more so than a quick Q&A shouted across a large ballroom). Lunchtime events are appropriate for single speakers or panels and even just as a networking venue. There is a huge array of private room options in DC and the surrounding metro area. GSA clarifies conference policy but industry concerns persist

General Services Administration employees are not banned from traveling to conferences. But they do need to take a few extra steps to attend.

Industry representatives can breathe a sigh of relief as GSA EXPO in San Antonio next week still will see many agency employees walking the conference halls. The Industry Advisory Council and American Council for Technology's Management of Change Conference in Cambridge, Md., in early June will enjoy more than a few GSA employees beyond the invited speakers.
