3rd DoD Unmanned Systems Summit



A non-partisan educational and training Summit designed as a “Town Hall” full spectrum view towards air/land/sea unmanned initiatives. The forum is created to encourage a real, pragmatic level of discussion and debate amongst all in attendance.

 

We will bring together leaders from across te the Armed Services, DoD, Government Agencies, and the Industry and Academic leaders that can help them forge many of the solutions necessary to achieve their respective “next –steps”. Actionable take aways for today, tomorrow, and the future will drive the discussions.

 

Key topics will include:

  • - Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems
  • - Improving onboard data processing for ISR, sense and avoid, and other payloads on current platforms
  • - Common Control Systems (CCS);  Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based software
  • - Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) based software/hardware  solutions for fielded systems
  • - Opportunities to improve commonalities and interoperability  across Service platforms to increase cost savings
  • - MUM-T and autonomous activity
  • - Precision handling
  • - The use of unmanned systems in counter- IED/EOD  and CBRN incidents
  • - Spectrum management

Over 16 plenary sessions will occur. Several confirmed speakers include:

Mr. Earl Wyatt, DASD, Emerging Capabilities and Requirements, OSD AT&L on overcoming the persistent and pervasive challenges of the ‘Future Fight’ through the use of unmanned systems across the entire warfighting network, along with a review of Thunderstorm  FY ’15

 

  • BGen Gary L. Thomas, USMC, Deputy Director, Force Management, Application, and Support, J-8, Joint Chiefs of Staff briefing on the Joint Staff Robotic and Autonomous Systems Team (JRASTS)

     

  • Dr. Lawrence Schuette, SES, Director of Research (Discovery and Invention), ONR presenting on near term research and interests from ONR with unmanned Systems in support of the maritime battlespace

  •  

     

  • Mr. Fredrick Moorefield, SES, Director, Spectrum Policy and Programs, DoD CIO  who will discuss spectrum management/policy for unmanned systems

     

  • Mr. Jeffrey Eggers, SES, CTO, DCS ISR (AF/A2) providing a perspective towards improving capabilities of RPAs and the potential role of current platforms for  near term future operating environments

  • Dr. Siva Banda, SES, Chief Scientist, Aerospace Directorate, AFRL  briefing on unmanned system priorities for Next Generation Aerospace Systems (FY 14- 19)

  • CAPT Chris Corgnati, USN, Director, Airborne ISR Capabilities, OPNAV N2/N6; Head of U.S. Delegation to NATO Joint Capability Group on Unmanned Aerial Systems (JCGUAS) providing a perspective on Naval ISR efforts through enhanced unmanned systems, along with a status report on NATO JCGUAS initiatives

     

  • LTC Stuart Hatfield, USA, Soldier Team Chief FDD, Army G-8 speaking on integrated capabilities solutions to meet readiness requirements across UGV communities
