S&R Foundation's Illuminated Series: Shared Data Shared Knowledge



On February 26, 2014, Illuminate’s “Shared Data, Shared Knowledge” will bring together a diverse audience of stakeholders from the public and private sector to participate in an interactive lecture about the power of open data. Thought leaders Waldo Jaquith (Open Data Institute), Jeanne Holm (Data.gov) and Yuvi Kochar (Graham Holdings Company) will lead a discussion on the value of open data and examine how open data:

  • Can be used to increase transparency
  • Spur innovation; and
  • Eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse

 

Speaker and Presenter Information

This event will be facilitated by Travis Korte (Research Analyst, the Center for Data Innovation), with an introduction by Ana Rold (editor-in-chief of the Diplomatic Courier). Each speaker will discuss the impact of open data with their respective fields and provide tangible strategies about leveraging open data.

Waldo Jaquith will address a variety of non-traditional methodologies that are currently being applied to create solutions. 

Yuvi Kochar will focus on a technological and economic point-of-view to discuss the imperativeness that businesses leverage data to stay marketable.

Jeanne Holm will discuss the background and political environment that led to the creation of data.gov a government repository where data is available to pubic and private sector users to empower missions and create value
