Embassy/Defense Attaché Luncheon Series - Australia

NDIA’s International Division presents a luncheon with Mr. Nigel Morris, Minister Counsellor Defence Materiel and Dr. Torgny Josefsson, Minister Counsellor Defence Science of the Australian Embassy staff.

As the United States shifts its strategic focus towards the Asia-Pacific, Australia and the national security decisions it makes become increasingly important to its regional neighbors and to the U.S.  Australia has taken measures that strengthen the already strong alliance with the U.S. while simultaneously fostering open dialogue and enhanced practical cooperation with its Asia-Pacific neighbors.

Mr. Morris will present an overview of the Australian Department of Defence's procurement activities, touching lightly on measures contained within Australia’s 2014-15 Federal Budget which will be released in the weeks leading up to the luncheon.  Dr. Josefsson will also provide an overview on collaborative reasearch and development initiatives being pursued in partnership with the United States.  Lastly, the presentation will touch upon progress being made on the Abbott Government's commitment to release a new Defence White Paper within its first 18 months in office and conclude with a brief Q&A session.

This event is not open to the press.
