Overview of the Tutorial and Roundtable:
Many projects are completed on time and within budgets, but at their end, have limited or no contribution to meeting the goals and objectives of an organization. Other projects are “put on hold” due to executive or political priorities that have changed during the long project development cycle but have intermediate results that have value that can be realized in meeting mission goals. With limited agency budgets, managers cannot afford to make these kinds of strategic resource “wastes”.

Government managers and executives know the importance of continually monitoring project performance and benefits to meet the needs of the organization and the intermediary goals which often change due to budgetary or political changes.

Goals of the Program:
This Potomac Forum Tutorial and Roundtable has two goals:

Provide a tutorial to government attendees on benefits realization. The tutorial will provide value and information for attendees to take back to their organization to conceptualize benefits and how they can be applied to their projects or programs. This should be considered training and the primary purpose of the morning session. CEUs will be awarded.


Assist in developing use cases for Amplify – a proven benefits Visualization product crossing the ocean from our Australian friends – New to the US – Not New to Benefits Visualization. Attendees of the breakfast will be among the first to kick off the US implementation of Amplfy. The discussion will also provide insights into benefits realization and will be of benefit to the attendees by participating in discussion about benefits realization and visualization.

The Executive Tutorial and Roundtable is limited to 25 government employees who have responsibilities that require an understanding of how benefits need to be realized, described, reported and used for decision making.

Bill Mathis
President
CPIC Solutions Corp.

Bill Mathis’ professional experience and capabilities are built on a track record of managing specialist consulting teams, delivery programs and providing executive guidance to solve management and organizational process improvement challenges. He developed his abilities through engagements with numerous government and commercial customers worldwide. With few exceptions, his Clients have either been public sector organizations, or contractor organizations supporting public sector programs. Nearly half of Bill's career experience has been built serving Clients in Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada and Europe.

Bill serves on the Board of the College of Performance Management as Vice President of Education and Certification, and is a Founding Member of the Board of Advisors to the Federal CPIC Forum - currently supporting its Executive Board's Government Policy and Education Programs. Bill serves as an active participant and significant contributor to the U.S. Government Accountability Office Cost Assessment Guide (2006-present), Schedule Assessment Guide (2009-present) and upcoming Technical Readiness Assessment Guide (2013-present). He is participant in the Civilian Agency / Industry Working Group for EVM, and is currently supporting GAO's Agile / EVM best practice working group.

Bill serves on the Board of Directors for Stop the Silence - Stop Child Sexual Abuse contributing to program design and governance for new approaches to prevention and trauma-informed survivor treatment. He is a graduate of Arizona State University, where he earned MS and BSE Degrees in Mechanical Engineering, followed by an MBA from the University of Phoenix.

His specialties include: Benefits Realization Management, Program Performance, Capital Planning and Investment Control, Earned Value Management, Cost Estimating and Analysis, AMPLIFY BRM, PIE Matrix and SEER-IT cost modeling. He is also experienced in all facets of professional services business development and delivery management.
