NDIA 16th Annual Science & Engineering Technology Conference

The 16th Annual Science & Engineering Conference will turn its focus to the 17 DoD Communities of Interest (CoIs) on March 24 - 26, 2015. In light of the pending implementation of the budget sequestration, a great concern for both the Department of Defense and the Defense Industrial Base, the DoD identified 17 critical areas of interest, effectively known as the aforementioned ‘Community of Interest (CoI).’

The CoIs were formed to plan, program, and execute coordinated DoD activities and tasked with completing a CoI roadmap, which is aimed at providing an understanding of the technological state of the community, including identifying the technology trends and gaps and clearly defining their proposed strategic direction in critical technology areas. The highlighted gaps in each CoI provide opportunities for both government and industry investment. The end result of these roadmaps is better buying power and less technological surprise throughout each interest area.

This year, attendees and participants are provided the unique opportunity to meet with the DoD teams that are developing and executing the respective roadmaps, and have one-on-one sessions with key DoD members of the CoI steering committees to review on-going IR&D efforts, ideas, and related work that may be of benefit to those CoIs.*
