2010 2nd Annual West Coast Safe Patient Handling Conference



Target Audience
 
This conference is designed to meet the needs of direct health care providers, managers, administrators, risk managers, educators, industrial hygienists/safety professionals, and researchers of any discipline who are interested in advancing safety for patients and caregivers. To meet the needs of a diverse audience, focused tracks have been established for:

Track A: Direct Patient Care Providers/Peer Leaders responsible for patient handling tasks in a variety of clinical settings. Includes front line workers from a variety of disciplines, including those designated as unit-based peer leaders. 
   
Track B: Facility Champions responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating and sustaining safe patient handling programs for a facility or health care system. 
         
Track C: Challenging Patient Populations will focus on unique challenges and risks associated with specific patient populations or health care settings. 
 
Conference Objectives
 
Upon completion of this program, the participant should be able to:

  • Identify three best practices for patient care ergonomics.
  • Assess technological solutions for safe patient handling.
  • Describe three ergonomic hazards common in patient care settings.
  • Formulate strategies for reducing risk to caregivers at your facility.
