Face to Face Cyber Security
Creating Trusted, Identity-Driven Federal Enterprises
Federal agencies are improving identity management programs by focusing on trusted personal credentials, yet efforts to best authenticate employees, partners, and individuals for online transactions continue, with many to be challenging.
Government-wide regulations date back more than a decade, with many programs and identity management initiatives launched, such as HSPD-12 which called for a Common Identification Standard for Federal Employees and Contractors. Despite these efforts, there continue to be significant hurdles to ensuring only those entitled to information or systems are permitted access, and only legitimate and authenticated citizens and business receive approved government benefits. In response, Federal agencies are working to establish trusted credentials that will work across multiple agencies to deliver more effective information-sharing, enhance privacy protections, and reduce business operating costs.
