Breaking the Storage-Focused Mindset with Information Governance

In an information centric world, organizations attribute value to the information they create and own. As information continues to drive operations, users continue to create and store it with the expectation that they are increasing the value for the organization.

Members of your organization generate information in order to execute on daily activity. But people are data hoarders. Nobody wants to delete anything. Partly because they think they might need it in the future and partly because it’s just too easy to keep.

Lacking any real insight into the data, or a firm Information Governance strategy, most organizations simply enable these hoarding tendencies.  To accommodate the growth, many people choose to define the problem in terms of storage.

Unfortunately, this “storage-focused” approach doesn’t scale with the exponential rate of data growth. In fact, it places a huge strain on the business that grows as the data multiplies.

Veiw our on-demand webcast as we explore why the hoarding mentality and the organizational enablement of that behavior must stop and why Information Governance, as opposed to a “storage-focused” approach, is so important.
