Basic Training: Small Business Guide to Federal Contracts



This is the first step companies should take which are new to government contracting. Taught by Virginia PTAP Director, Anna Urman , you will learn the essentials of starting and growing a government contracting business, including:

Where to Start: 
How to register to become a federal contractor? 
What are the different set-asides?

How to Find Buyers: 
What agencies buy what you sell?
How to find buyers contact information?
How much does the federal government spend?
What vehicles do they use?
How to start competing for business?
Demonstration of FREE market research tools- What they are and how to use them

Who Is Your Competition: 
What companies are selling to your customers?
What are their rates?
Can you team?

Description: 
In this 3 hour class, you will learn how to set up your company as a government contractor, how you can research opportunities, and develop your strategy for business development with government agencies, major prime contractors, and other partners. 

After completing that training and doing some initial market research “homework”, we will be happy to set up an appointment with one of our counselors so that you have an opportunity to ask SPECIFIC questions that will help you hone in on the right opportunities, partners, and strategies for your business.
