TACTICAL SITE EXPLOITATION COURSE - San Diego (CA), United States



History in both Iraq & Afghanistan has shown us that vast amounts of key information can be missed or overlooked because we had not trained well enough for operating in today’s current environment. We have to adapt and change our mindset to be successful at Site exploitation.

 

OVERVIEW
This three day course will give training on how to exploit a scene in a CIED environment using systematic procedures so that you can gather evidence and gain intelligence that might otherwise be overlooked.

 

SCHEDULE 
As part of the training the students will be exposed to the following:

• HME laboratory: recognition, dangers, test equipment

• Documentation & Media Exploitation: recognition, gathering, common mistakes made

• Role players to enable Biometrics & tactical questioning to be carried out

• Hands on training with various explosive detector kits and search tools

• Preparation of a case file that will then be checked to see if it could gain prosecution

• Exposure to different IED components & Switches

• Practical Exercises to evaluate the training being taught

• Expert training and real life discussions on lessons learned from SE missions

TRAINING METHODS

The class will be about 60 % classroom and 40% practical and will be taught as part of a building block process that will be concluded with a final exercise and a mock courtroom examination of the evidence and intelligence gathering for prosecution purposes. The training will be conducted using inert training aids, search tools and role players. The class will be broken down into syndicates for the exercise phase.

TRAINER BACKGROUND

 

A former UK Commando/Paratrooper with over 25 years of experience in the Counter Improvised Explosives Defeat Operations worldwide, and was working with the US government for over 7 years in the EOD/CIED training. George is a Senior Military instructor and was involved in course design, curriculum review, coaching and mentoring of instructor at the UK National Search Academy. He is a British Army Sergeant Major and was embedded military representative working within the Joint IED Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) for the US military, and he developed the Search/Tactical Site Exploitation as a new concept in how US Forces train for operating in counter insurgency warfare (2006 – 2008). He was also responsible for training and managing specialist High Risk Search teams (HRST) for working with the United Kingdom Special Forces in incident response for maritime interdiction (MI) operations within the UK.
