2017 Directed Energy Summit
The 2017 Directed Energy Summit will be focused on informing decision-makers across the U.S. defense policy, operational, funding and acquisition communities on the potential development and deployment of directed energy (DE) capabilities (high energy lasers, high power microwave/RF systems, and electronic warfare) within the next five years.
This two-day event, co-sponsored by Booz Allen Hamilton and the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments (CSBA), will bring together more than 500 government and industry stakeholders within the first 60 days of the new administration and Congress.
Wednesday, March 29th (all day - UNCLASSIFIED) will include a hosted luncheon and evening networking and capability demonstration reception. The event will focus on: DE’s increasing role within evolving defense priorities; detailed service updates on accelerated development and fielding of DE capabilities; updates on NDAA-directed designation of a senior DoD official for DE and a Joint DE Transition Office; DoD DE Strategic Plan and Roadmap; and more with senior leaders from Congress, DoD, the military services, and industry.
Thursday, March 30th (morning - SECRET/NOFORN) will provide updates on the threat environment, interactive vignette and panel discussions on the effective use of future offensive and defensive DE capabilities, and more. (afternoon - UNCLASSIFIED/Distro C) will include a Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium (DOTC) briefing to industry on DE topics for which OTA proposals are being solicited for FY18.
