Discussion led by Guy Timberlake of the SCIIF, "Simplified Acquisitions are a secret weapon for federal agencies. It allows their buyers to make purchases with a reduced administrative lead time and level of effort so they can get essential goods and services to agency customers faster than other procurement methods. The rules for this type of purchase conveys a preference for agencies to engage with small business concerns as well as a reduced level of effort for vendors when responding to these requirements. In Fiscal Year 2018, 68 federal agencies, boards and commissions issued and administered contracts and orders valued at nearly $25B, continuing an upward trend in utilization and fiscal spending on buys made this way."
