Smarter Grants Summit

This event qualifies for 18 CPEs

The Smarter Grants Summit in San Antonio on January 14-16, 2020, will feature a unique program focused on the three key areas for today’s grants management professional: compliance with the Uniform Grants Guidance, diversification of funding streams, and implementation of sound fiscal management.

By attending the Smarter Grants Summit, you will learn about current requirements for managing your grants as well as what to expect beyond 2020.  The conference is rooted in compliance training.  You will learn about the rules governing Federal grants as codified in the OMB's Uniform Grants Guidance (commonly called the "OMB Super Circular"), but smart grants management is about more than just compliance. That is why the Smarter Grants Summit will also explain how to implement effective, efficient financial management strategies as well as how to diversify your organization's funding sources.

The Smarter Grants Summit will discuss major compliance requirements under the Uniform Grants Guidance (including recent changes), review frameworks for sound fiscal management and internal control, and explain tested strategies to diversify your funding sources. Over the course of three days, you will learn about:

  • Recent developments affecting your grants, including planned revisions to the Uniform Grants Guidance;
  • Administrative requirements under the Uniform Guidance;
  • Procurement best practices;
  • Direct and indirect costs under the Super Circular's cost principles;
  • Expanding your funding base to lessen dependence on Federal grants;
  • Fraud prevention; and,
  • Best practices in fiscal management, including effective internal controls.

Attendees will also have ample opportunities to ask our expert presenters their individual grants management questions.

The Smarter Grants Summit is intended for grants management professionals from all types of grant-funded organizations, including nonprofits, higher education, hospitals, tribal entities, and state and local government. Attendees can earn up to 18 hours of CPE credit in accordance with the rules of the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.
