Drone Security: Airport and Critical Infrastructure Strategic Initiatives

As the use of recreational and commercial drones continues to increase, demand for systems to secure critical civilian infrastructure has skyrocketed — and industry has noticed. There are now more than 500 counter-UAS systems at various stages of development, more than double the number from two years ago, with different approaches to detecting, identifying and potentially mitigating carelessly or maliciously operated drones.

Airport authorities, critical infrastructure owners and operators, and various elements of the U.S. government are trying to sort out the right policies, operating plans and technologies to confront challenges posed by unauthorized drones flying in and around their facilities. The stakes are high: in 2018, drone sightings near the runway at London’s Gatwick Airport affected over 1,000 flights, causing ripples throughout the global air transit system.

Learn the latest developments and upcoming plans in this exclusive Defense Daily Webinar.
