Big Data Platform with Cloudera

Cloudera and Hortonworks have been the industry leaders for Hadoop environments and with the two companies merging into one, Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) Data Center edition is the first unified release of the two previous CDH and HDP product offerings for on-premises deployments. The unification of these two solutions target CDP Data Center not only as an end-to-end enterprise analytics platform, but also as the data lake platform for future private cloud analytics that will have ingest and compute execution in new add-on products following the Data Center release. Customers have been waiting for the unified release where license renewals and hardware refreshes are key factors, supporting requests for Dell to offer guidance.

Customers can benefit from Cloudera Data Platform with new features that include:
• Higher performance SQL analytics
• Real-time stream processing and management
• Granular attribute-based access control
• Dynamic column filtering and row masking
• A 10x increase in file and object scalability

The big data market has been going through several changes with the emergence of AI. While large data sets are required for AI, customers have been cautious to see how the AI market moves before jumping in and building business outcomes based on AI. With the two leading companies for Hadoop merging, this release marks the first unified platform for data analytics and AI. Customers still on 5.x CDH and 2.x HDP have product slated for end of support (EOS) by 12/31/2020. For Dell this provides a unique opportunity as the largest Hadoop hardware vendor to provide guidance to our existing customer base for software renewals and hardware refreshes
