Department of Defense Women-Owned Small Business Procurement Opportunity Forum

Potential budget reductions at the Department of Defense (DoD) are no secret, but hundreds of billions of dollars will still be spent on products and services from small businesses. To make the most of the opportunities available, small business owners must stay one step ahead of the spending changes. To help women business owners maximize their share of federal contracting dollars, the Give Me 5 program is partnering with the DoD for a one-of-a-kind event on October 24 at the Mark Center.  The “Department of Defense Women-Owned Small Business Procurement Opportunity Forum” will bring together key agency procurement representatives from DoD agencies and small business owners looking to get a competitive edge in doing business with the DoD.

At the afternoon event, business owners will get updates on the state of WOSB Federal Contract Program to help them best position their company for success in 2013. Small business directors from the DoD will discuss how they find and use qualified small businesses and how they work in tandem with the WOSB program.  Successful woman business owners will share success tips on how to win WOSB set-aside government contracts.

The Give Me 5 program was created by American Express OPEN and Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) in 2008 to help women-owned businesses secure their 5% share of federal contracting dollars.  The program also helped support the passing of the Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contract program which aims to expand federal contracting opportunities for women-owned small businesses and went into effect in February 2011.

The event cost is $45. Registration is available through the listed link.
