FEMP eTraining: Selecting, Implementing, and Funding Photovoltaic Systems in Federal Facilities

Learn best practices for selecting and installing PV technologies at Federal sites:

  • Evaluate the main types of PV materials and technologies and basic PV system components;
  • Predict a site’s available solar resources and select the best technologies
  • Interpret manufacturer performance ratings, understand environmental impacts, and assess warranty options and performance guarantees;
  • Evaluate installation considerations, including site feasibility, land ownership and land use, road access, electrical lines, interconnection issues, and environmental and cultural compliance;
  • Conduct preliminary screenings, feasibility studies, and procurement strategies;
  • Evaluate incentives and rebates, tariff changes and standby charges, and renewable energy certificates; and
  • Select project funding options, including energy savings performance contracts, utility energy service contracts, on-site renewable power purchase agreements, and enhanced use leases.

FEMP eTraining Courses are a series of FREE online training opportunities designed to provide practical advice from experts that enhance on-the-job skills and technical abilities in support of the Federal Buildings Personnel Training Act (FBPTA).
