FEMP Offers Training on Energy Efficiency Expert Evalutions

The U.S. Department of Energy Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) presents a new First Thursday Seminar on June 5, 2014 titled Energy Efficiency Expert Evaluations:  A Customized Assessment Approach.

Energy Efficiency Expert Evaluations are innovative, multi-disciplinary assessments that combine the best elements of retro-commissioning and energy audits.

The instructor will be Ed St. Germain, CPE, director of Energy and Environment Support at Enviro-Management & Research, Inc., who has more than 37 years experience in reliability-centered maintenance, retro-commissioning, and energy saving alternatives in the Federal sector.

By completing this seminar, participants will be able to:

• Establish key performance goals and assemble a well-qualified team during the planning phase

• Conduct a kick-off meeting and a site walk-through during the discovery phase

• Conduct inspections and tests, collect operational data and trends, trouble-shoot problems, and conduct O&M training during the correction phase

• Prioritize a “short-list” of low-cost and no-cost opportunities and report all results in a “Master List of Findings” during the hand-off phase

After completing a course evaluation and multiple-choice assessment, participants will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible for continuing education units.  

First Thursday Seminars are designed for Federal energy and facility managers, but are open to all individuals through the FEMP training database. Courses are hosted in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences Whole Building Design Guide.
