COMPLIMENTARY BRIEFING

The Watchful Eye: Mitigating Risk in the Cloud

Date: Wednesday, December 3, 2014
Time: 8:00 - 10:30 AM
Cost: Complimentary
Credits: 3 CPEs/CEUs

Focus:

Government agencies are adopting a Cloud First approach to do more with existing resources while rapidly opening up new ways to meet citizens’ demands to engage with agencies online. Using a pay-as-you-go model, agencies can now access a broad portfolio of middleware and services, and build sophisticated apps that can transform citizen engagement.

Despite the compelling need to innovate through cloud adoption, IDC estimates that two-thirds of IT professionals consider security their #1 barrier to migrating to the cloud. Vulnerabilities such as hacking and identity theft, privacy and ownership of data, records management, and insider threats are but a few of the stumbling blocks to securely migrating government systems to the cloud.

Join government and industry experts to explore the risks associated with moving to the cloud and methods to mitigate them.

This briefing will feature:

  • Discussion of compliance requirements such as NIST’s Federal Information Security Act (FISMA).
  • Government thought leaders introducing best practices in preparing their agencies for implementing secure cloud.
  • Certificates awarding up to 3 CPE’s accredited by The George Washington University Center for Excellence in Public Leadership.
  • In depth discussion of government’s path forward use tools such as Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) which governs the security authorization process for Cloud Service Providers (CSP).
