Meet Your 2015 FISMA Requirements: 2015 Metrics, Evolving Continuous Authorization Capabilities, Cybersecurity Calendar, and RMF Tool

You can successfully and effectively meet your FY2015 FISMA requirements by understanding the FISMA Trends, Rising Needs and Solutions and creating your own management tools. These are what this course is about.   Individuals who took our FISMA courses in the past three years will find this course evolved with the new capabilities and requirements and contains many new solutions, examples and strategies. This seminar is for Federal agency personnel and supporting contractors and vendors. Note: DGI offers another 2-day seminar on the New Department of Defense's Risk Management Framework (DoD RMF) on March 10-11, 2015.

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Defense (DOD), Committee of National Security Systems (CNSS), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have made major advances in moving Federal information technology (IT) security forward.  They have created new standards, processes, and solutions that are streamlining and automating security and moving us closer to the goal of total near-real-time security awareness.

This popular 2-day course has been totally updated to provide you with new specific and practical strategies for leveraging the changes into meeting your individual and enterprise FISMA responsibilities in 2015. Attendees will gain a practical understanding of the strategies by working real-world examples during group activities and by reviewing actual samples of the key FISMA documents:

  • Security Plan (SP),
  • Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM),
  • Security Assessment Report (SAR), and
  • CDM and SCAP Product Solutions Cross Reference to meeting OMB CM Implementation requirements.

Additionally, attendees will learn successful approaches to identifying system and enterprise requirements and approaches to establishing an effective Information System Continuous Monitoring (ISCM) that meets the security and FISMA needs of your systems. Finally, the attendees will learn how to create and use the new FISMA Cybersecurity Calendar to effectively manage their FISMA related efforts and influence supporting resources.  This will include real-world samples of the following:

  • Information Security Continuous Monitoring Plan (ISCMP), and
  • FISMA Cybersecurity Calendar, and
  • RMF Security Control Baseline Tool (RMFSecCtrlBT).

Speakers from NIST and DHS will be providing current information and guidance related to trends and the new FISMA reporting metrics, processes, standards and solutions. The course instructor brings real-world practical experience from supporting over 300 FISMA Agency, Military, Intelligence, and Commercial authorizations and continuous monitoring programs for systems in military, public and private sectors.
