Overview of the Workshop:

This one day Potomac Forum workshop will focus on the Chief Data Officer and highlight the importance of several factors that are instrumental to overcoming data challenges at your agency, i.e.

  • The right leadership: The Chief Data Officer
  • Challenges associated with this role and how to overcome them
  • How to create a comprehensive data-centric strategy
  • How to develop a roadmap and gain support for these initiatives

The Case for the Chief Data Officer: Data are assets that deserve to be managed as professionally and aggressively as comparable organizational assets. Studies show that only about 10% of organizations actually achieve a positive return on their investments in data. In the face of the accelerating "data explosion," this leaves most organizations unprepared to leverage a non-degrading, strategic asset. Organizations that successfully create CDOs will achieve improved organizational performance results.

A Data-centric Strategy and Roadmap: Competing in today’s information-driven marketplace requires data-focused strategies that enable organizations to be competent, agile and innovative. This requires data to be at the heart of your organizational business model and strategy. Utilizing various case studies and client experiences, this workshop will help turn your strategy into action by demonstrating how to establish realistic plans and expectations, and how to demonstrate the value of such action to both internal and external decision makers.
