In response to growing demands for delivery of government services online, agencies are looking at methods for digital identity verification.  The adoption of digital technology has changed the way government communication tools are created, managed, and delivered to citizens. Electronic documents pose a special challenge to the verification of their authenticity because they can be altered, possibly leading to unauthorized versions of government content.

This briefing will discuss methods for authentication of identity and access management including logical and physical access controls, identity assurance and governance as recommended under the NIST Special Publication 800-63-2S Electronic Authentication Guideline and Special Publication 800-157, Guidelines for Derived Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credentials.
