FEMP35: Energy Management Basic Training-- Tools and Resources for Success

The U.S. Department of Energy Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) will present a live eTraining course on June 24, 2015 from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm EST on Energy Management Basic Training- Tools and Resources for Results.

 

This new FEMP eTraining course is presented in partnership with the U.S. Department of the Army, Office of Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management (OACSIM). This course provides federal personnel with a concise overview of Federal Energy Management, and the most current tools and resources for success. It will instruct from the viewpoint of site personnel, and present legislative mandates, executive orders, presidential memorandums and other goals in terms of important action items and best practices for implementation.

 

This course has been developed for new energy managers, energy managers with other duties, and seasoned energy managers seeking the latest updates to energy management requirements at both civilian and military agencies. It will provide a solid foundation for more in-depth study of critical topics, such as renewable energy technology applications, energy efficiency improvements and energy conservation measures, energy efficient product procurement, and comprehensive water management.

 

The instructors for this seminar will be Randall Smidt, Army Program Manager for Alternative Financing, and Thomas B. Delaney, Jr., PE, Army Energy Conservation Investment Program Manager. Both instructors serve within the U.S. Army’s Facilities Policy
Division of the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Installation Management. 

By completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify common strategies and best practices for energy efficiency, renewable energy, water efficiency, and product procurement;
  • Comprehend the importance of Federal energy management in meeting national goals, cite relevant legislation, executive orders, requirements, and access tools and resources for data collection, reporting, and compliance;
  • Understand the process for implementing successful energy management initiatives, including how to develop a plan of action, assemble a team, measure and evaluate results against baselines and compliance targets, and report for compliance purposes; and
  • Evaluate funding and financing options for energy management projects.

 

The Training format will feature enhanced features, including audience polling and Q&A, links to additional resources, and downloadable supplemental documents.
