Teaching Hmong Culture: From Southeast Asia to Wisconsin

The Center for Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is offering an exciting workshop open to K-12 teachers, English as a Second Language teachers, principals and other administrators, and librarians interested in learning more about the history and current lives of the Hmong who have come to Wisconsin over the past several decades after aiding the US during the Vietnam War. The workshop will feature presentations, activities and discussions focused on Hmong history and culture, as well as current issues facing Hmong students and their families in the US and in Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and Southern China today.

 

* The first 20 people to register for the workshop will receive a free, signed copy of Kao Kalia Yang’s award-winning book, The Latehomecomer.
