  • compliance or internal audit
  • program or contract management
  • in-house counsel

What You Will Learn
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be aware of recent legislative, regulatory and DCAA audit guidance actions affecting government contract compliance and know how to:

  • assess business systems’ compliance against DFARS criteria and other Government requirements
  • document business system process and internal controls
  • remediate or correct deficiencies
  • monitor or self-assess compliance and internal control effectiveness
  • demonstrate overall business system adequacy and compliance

Course Overview
This two-day course will start with a half-day overview and update of current “Hot Topics” related to contracting with the Federal Government and interacting with the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA). This session will address recent legislation and rules impacting government contracting as well as DCAA audit guidance (MRDs) and instruction to its auditors.

The next day will then focus on the compliance aspects of contractor business systems (accounting, estimating and purchasing) in today’s government contract compliance environment. This interactive session will teach participants how to assess and remediate their company’s business systems and demonstrate compliance to government auditors. It will address the history of contractor business systems, how to assess a business system for compliance with government requirements, how to develop new compliant policies and procedures, and how to monitor and maintain business system internal controls. We will instruct participants how to walk government auditors through business system processes, related documentation and key internal controls to demonstrate compliance with government requirements.

We will conclude on the second day with two panel discussions focused on an analysis of what contractors are seeing in the market today and issues they are facing with government contract administration, compliance and interaction with DCAA and DCMA personnel. One panel will consist of selected ANC compliance professionals and will address accounting and compliance aspects of their government contracts. The other panel will consist of outside counsel and selected ANC in-house legal professionals focused on current events and trends in the legal community.
