UFC-Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for DOD Buildings


This event qualifies for 24 CPEs


This course is available to all Federal, State, local government and private sector SECURITY and ENGINEERING professionals.   While the course focuses on securing DOD assets, the concepts learned are prudent and applicable in reducing criminal and terrorist threats to non-DOD buildings, as well.  Contractors and consultants seeking construction contracts with the Department of Defense will attend this course.  The course is designed to familiarize students with the fundamentals of Security Engineering and antiterrorism related to protecting critical facilities from common criminals and acts of terrorism.  Much of the  course  is dedicated to understanding  and applying updated UFC 4-20-01, DOD Security Engineering : Facilities Planning Manuel and UFC 4-10-01, UFC-Minimum Antiterrorism Standards for DOD Buildings and other current supporting security and antiterrorism related documents.

 

Students having already attended the USACE Security Engineering or NAVFAC Security Engineering Planning workshops are eligible to attend the 1-day refresher course.

Speaker and Presenter Information

HSS was recently recognized by the Department of the Army for Subject Matter Expertise in Building Design. HSS has an A+ Rating from the Better Business Bureau and is a member of the Ventura Chamber of Commerce.  HSS has been specializing in teaching building design principles to architects, engineers, facility managers, planners, and security professionals around the globe since 2006.  In 2015, they started offering a variety of Physical Security Engineering workshops throughout India and The Netherlands.

 

Doug is a career security professional.  He retired from active duty with the US Air Force in 1993. He spent the next 20 years working for the U.S. Government, primarily overseas.  He has over 45 years of experience in conducting physical security vulnerability assessments and risk analysis. He’s an impassioned speaker and shares his knowledge. Organizers have tapped into his experience at national and international conferences, such as; ISC-West 2013 in Las Vegas, 16th IFSEC & OSH Arabia 2013 and 17th International Security Conference 2014 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, ISC-East 2014 in New York city and the first Smart Cities India 2015 Conference in New Delhi.  Of late, he was selected to guest lecture at John Jay College of Criminal Justice on Access Control system design.  He’s also a published author.  In the Summer 2010 edition of The Guardian: The Source for Antiterrorism Information his article on the Risk Analysis and Vulnerability Assessment Process was feature.  His tips on perimeter security were recently published in the Jul/Aug issue of Security Middle East.  Doug is a member of the Security Industry Association (SIA).  As such he helped SIA and the International Association of Professional Security Consultants develop Architectural Graphic and CAD Symbols for Security System layouts.  So chances are if you design a security system in the future you will be using a symbol he designed.
