COL Martha VanDriel
FA59, U.S. Army, Cyber Mission Force Readiness, OSD, Office of the Principal Cyber Advisor

COL Martha VanDriel is a U.S. Army Functional Area 59 (Strategy and Plans) and is currently the Director for Cyber Mission Force Readiness at the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Office of the Principal Cyber Advisor.  She has a decade of operational-level planning experience in Korea, U.S. Pacific Command, Iraq, and U.S. Army Cyber Command.  She also taught International Relations and The Strategy and Politics of Cyberwarfare in the Department of Social Sciences at West Point.  Originally commissioned as a Military Intelligence officer, Colonel VanDriel is a graduate of West Point and holds an M.A. in National Security Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Andrew Heighington
Executive Director, Office of the Principal Cyber Advisor to the Secretary of Defense

Andrew Heighington oversees the execution of 47 complex security projects that span multiple business units and functions and establishes and manages a governance process that integrates, prioritizes, and aligns security strategies and initiatives across the Department of Defense. Mr. Heighington provides creative investment recommendations to senior executives to mitigate the risk of cyber threats and better defend a global information network while developing metrics to track progress and identify and address challenges. He regularly assess and communicate risk to senior executives and advocate for cost-effective risk reduction solutions.

Previously he served as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Strategy, Plans, and Forces for the United States Department of Defense. 

 

Aaron Brantly, PhD
Assistant Professor, International Relations and Cyber, Department of Social Sciences, Cyber Policy Fellow, The Army Cyber Institute, Combating Terrorism Center, United States Military Academy

Dr. Aaron F. Brantly is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences and the Army Cyber Institute. He has ten years of experience working in international development with a focus on information communications technologies (ICT) innovation and security as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine and subsequently with the International Republican Institute for Advancing Democracy Worldwide and a Senior Program Officer with the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs. He has technical experience in multiple coding languages and systems. His regional expertise/experience includes Eurasia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and parts of Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2011 he served as conference coordinator for Track-II talks on Peace-Building and Reintegration of the Korean Peninsula with representatives from the DPRK, ROK, and USA.

 

Mica Endsley, PhD
President, SA Technologies, Inc. and former Chief Scientist of the United States Air Force

Dr. Mica R. Endsley is president of SA Technologies, a cognitive engineering firm specializing in the development of operator interfaces for advanced systems, including the next generation of systems for aviation, air traffic control, medical, power and military operations. She is the former Chief Scientist of the U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C. She served as the chief scientific adviser to the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Air Force, and provides assessments on a wide range of scientific and technical issues affecting the Air Force mission.

Dr. Endsley served on the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board as panel chair on Defense against remotely piloted vehicles and chaired an S&T review of the Human Effectiveness Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory. She also served as a member of studies on human-system integration, system of systems engineering, and mission management for RPAs.

Dr. Endsley's research focuses on the design, development and evaluation of systems to support human situation awareness and decision-making in aviation, air traffic control, space, cyber, military command and control, medical, and power systems operations. She is the author of over 180 scientific articles and reports on situation awareness in individuals and teams, human-automation integration, information dominance, human-system integration, human error and training for situation awareness. She has edited or co-authored 3 books, including Designing for Situation Awareness.

Endsley has authored over 200 scientific articles, reports on situation awareness, decision-making and automation, and is recognized internationally for her work in the area of situation awareness. She is a fellow in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and was awarded the Jack Kraft Innovator Award by that group. She has received numerous awards for teaching and research, is a Certified Professional Ergonomist and a Registered Professional Engineer. She serves on the editorial board for four major journals and is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Cognitive Engineering and Decision Making. She is co-author of a book titled Designing for Situation Awareness.
