The mission of the Transportation Security Administration is a weighty one: in the wake of September 11, the agency was created to protect the nation’s transportation systems, ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce while providing the most effective transportation security in the most efficient way as a high performing counter-terrorism organization.

Since 2014, TSA’s Office of the Chief Risk Officer has been implementing its ERM program to embed a common and consistent approach to identifying, sharing, and responding to organizational risks across TSA. The TSA ERM framework is designed to enable the Agency to make decisions in a holistic manner, establish an objective basis for resource allocation within a limited budget, remain agile and adaptive, and strengthen overall organizational performance.

This webinar will explore how agencies can model TSA and take proactive steps to meet coming mandates from the Office of Management and Budget to implement Enterprise Risk Management. Both public sector professionals and contractors will learn how TSA designed and executed its approach to ERM implementation, how to leverage the successes TSA has achieved through ERM, and how to manage the challenges and risks to ERM success.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore what makes George Washington University unique.
  • Discuss the imperative for public sector risk management.
  • Learn the application process to enter this 4 course certificate program in ERM.
  • Identify the skills attained through collegiate study of Enterprise Risk Management.
