Citizen Engagement Summit: Meeting the Demands of the Digital Citizen
Digital services are moving out of start-up mode. Once the province of Silicon Valley expatriates and a small group of e-government enthusiasts, the field of digital services has come to be seen as essential to much-needed efforts to transform how agencies provide information and services to the public.
The need for transformation is being driven by public expectations—by digital citizens who take it for granted that services will be available at any time, from any device, and through multiple channels. And they expect those services to be user-centric, flexible and constantly evolving as expectations evolve. Ultimately, it’s not about technology, it’s about engagement.
Agencies have gotten the message. A recent survey, conducted by the 1105 Public Sector Media Group, found growing interest in the concept of digital government, with 42% of respondents saying their agencies have adopted broad digital government initiatives. Meanwhile, the General Services Administration, one of the principle champions for digital services in the federal government, recently created the Technology Transformation Service to help agencies mature their efforts.
At this event, thought-leaders in digital services will discuss how agencies can meet the demand of the digital citizen as they design, develop and field a new class of digital services.
Potential topics to be addressed include:
- The role of DevOps in increasing the agility of digital services
- The latest thinking about user-centered design
- Cloud-based delivery strategies
- Solutions for multi-channel citizen engagement
- Key metrics for tracking citizen engagement
- The essential role of mobility for digital government
- The potential impact of the Internet of Things
- Digital innovation and modernizing legacy systems
