The National Education and Empowerment Coalition, Inc. and the Cities of Philadelphia and Meridian (Mississippi) are proud to co-sponsor the Ninth Annual National Civil Rights Conference.
This exciting and informative conference will be held in Birmingham, Alabama and promises to generate considerable intellectual dialogue and debate, as well as create opportunities to strengthen existing networks and forge new ones.
The National Civil Rights Conference’s Pre-Conference activities, June 14 - 16, will coincide with (1) Juneteenth activities in Meridian, (2) the Annual Memorial Services on the grounds of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church remembering and honoring James Earl Chaney, Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner and other Civil Rights Movement participants; and (3) educational and memorial activities on the grounds of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and Mt. Nebo Baptist Church.
Conference attendees and program participants are required to register for the conference. Registration includes admission to all sessions, and exhibit halls and daily keynotes. Service-learning training/registration (10 to 20 instructional hours or 1.0 to 2.0 CEUs) will be offered (at a small fee) to registered participants and specific audiences such as teachers, principals, and education leaders.
