The Fog of Sequestration

Senator Ayotte has been a part of the Senate roadshow that has been traveling the country rallying support for pressuring Congress to do something about sequestration.  Current estimates are that in Virginia alone over 207,000 jobs will be cut because of sequestration.

The Department of Labor opined that sequstration is "uncertain".  What is uncertain is how Congress and the President will work to change it.  Without an act of Congress, sequestration MUST happen, by law.

Bloomberg Government Analyst Kevin Brancato and Afzal Bari will present their Study titled, “Sequestration Planning: Scenarios and Options for Defense Contractors,” which outlines issues to help companies that contract with the federal government prepare for sequestration.

But that's not all.  Federal IT budgets will be reduced wheter or not sequstration happens.  How do Federal Departments get innovation and efficiency from information environments and spend less on them?

DHS, DISA, PM-ISE and GSA will discuss their perspectives on getting "more bang for thebuck" from our investments in IT.

Budget realities, especially in light of impending sequestration cuts, will greatly impact the plans of a host of IT initiatives including public/private cloud infrastructure, mobility, big data and analytics across the Federal government. 

At the same time, Federal IT leaders are calling for more innovation, but are struggling with adoption of emerging commercial technologies.  Government and industry leaders discuss the new landscape and their evolving priorities.
