Take the Right Action: Addressing Excessive Leave in Your Agency
According to the MSPB, your agency does not have to tolerate unauthorized absences — or even authorized extended absences — if they impact the efficiency of the service. But you do have to handle these situations just the right way so your actions aren’t overturned.
Join attorney Robin Wink for 90 minutes of expert insight on when and how to properly charge discipline for leave abuse while also considering related topics such as disability, discrimination, FMLA, workers’ compensation, AWOL and more. Plus, you’ll get guidance to:
- Identify and meet the Cook criteria for charging excessive absence even when the leave was approved
- Create a management strategy in response to specific cases and issues
- Evaluate the pros and cons of charging “excessive absences” or “medical inability to perform”
- Develop defensible charges and specifications for discipline based on attendance and medical issues
- Recognize and address when a disability is a factor
- And more!
