SMART PROC 2015

Connect with Government, Industry and Academic Leaders in Defense, Intelligence, Medical, Health, and Cyber at this one-day small business outreach procurement conference.

SMART brings together leaders from Congress and key Department of Defense, US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command, US Army Communications and Electronics Command, and US Cyber Command and Army Garrison with Commands located in Maryland. These experienced leaders bring over 100 years of combined military knowledge to discuss their overall mission and challenges facing their Command in response to streamlining and Defense cuts. Discussion will include how these changes will affect small businesses in the Maryland and Mid-Atlantic Region. This session is essential in learning how your business can respond to the broader needs of the Department of Defense in challenging fiscal times.

What is SMART and the SMART PROC conference? The SMART (Strengthening the Mid-Atlantic Region for Tomorrow) Organization executes the vision of the SMART Congressional Caucus from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware by providing a membership organization promoting tech enterprise in the region. The conference goal is to build stronger relationships, provide teaming partnerships and discuss upcoming procurement forecasts among industry, community, government, and academia.

What is the goal of the SMART initiative? The SMART initiative is the integration of Mid-Atlantic leadership of Science & Technology (S&T) collaboration for national and international issues, events and projects among the SMART Congressional Delegation (8 Senators & 39 Representatives), Federal Executive Branch headquarters, International Allies, the four State Governments (Executive & Legislative branches of DE, MD, NJ & PA) and the regional, national and international technical communities. The technical communities include academia, industry, government labs and professional associations. SMART is a model for inter-state, regional, national and international collaboration; multiple other states participate. Since 1999, SMART has facilitated over $625 million in projects, conducted 290 significant events and also conducted multiple significant case studies for Congress, the Federal Executive Branch, International Allies and States.
