NIST IT Security Day

Exhibitors are invited to display their technology products and services at the 2018 NIST IT Security Day at NIST HQ in Gaithersburg, MD. The Office of the Chief Information Officer, OCIO, is hosting this event to heighten awareness for all NIST users on the many aspects of operational information technology security and networking at home and in the office. Featuring guest speakers on general and technical IT security topics and tutorials on internal services and products, this event's objective is to educate users on IT security and related topics.

ATTENDEE DEMOGRAPHICS
Approximately 1000 NIST employees attend this event annually as it is mandatory for all NIST employees to attend at least one NIST IT Security Day session during the day. The exhibit hall held within the Portrait Room next to the cafeteria is strategically placed to maximize the attendee traffic to and from the sessions taking place in the auditorium. High traffic in the exhibit hall is expected before and between sessions. In 2017, over 300 NIST personnel visited the exhibit area.  Exhibitors are also able to attend the IT Security Day sessions.

ABOUT NIST

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is a non-regulatory Federal agency within the United States Department of Commerce (DOC). NIST operates under the authority of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Act (15 U.S.C. 271), which amends the Organic Act of March 3, 1901 (ch. 872), that created the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in 1901. In 1988, Congress renamed NBS as NIST. As a Federal research agency specifically focused on promoting U.S. economic competitiveness, NIST is well-positioned to accelerate and promote innovation and advanced technologies through its Laboratory Programs and its Innovation and Industry Services Programs.

NIST's mission is to promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve quality of life.

NIST carries out its mission through six laboratories that conduct world-class research, often in close collaboration with industry, advancing the nation's technology infrastructure and helping U.S. companies continually improve products and services. The Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) serves as a nationwide network of local centers offering technical and business assistance to smaller manufacturers to help them create and retain jobs, increase profits, and save time and money.

The vision of NIST is to be the world’s leader in creating critical measurement solutions and promoting equitable standards. NIST's efforts stimulate innovation, foster industrial competitiveness, and improve the quality of life.
