International Maritime Security Exposition

It is intended that IMSE will be conducted biennially coincident with the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise.  The conference is intended to afford participants the opportunity to hear from and interact with participating senior government and military leaders from the twenty-seven RIMPAC countries and other nations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. IMSE 2018 has been repackaged as a one day conference due to a number of factors to include the schedule constraints and availability of senior maritime leaders.

At IMSE 2018 the day will begin with a panel of experts who will discuss partnership building in the region.  These efforts involve military and civilian entities to include diplomatic engagement, aid, education, and the provision of training and equipment to nations that share common interests.  Multi-national and bi-lateral military exercises like RIMPAC test the ability of these like-minded nations to interoperate seamlessly and respond as a single, cohesive force to any crisis or natural disaster in the region when required.

Lunch will feature Commodore Pablo Niemann-Figari, Chilean Navy, as the keynote speaker.  Commodore Niemann-Figari is the Combined Force Maritime Component Commander for RIMPAC 2018.

The afternoon session will be led by the U. S. Third Fleet Commander, VADM John D. Alexander, USN, and include an out brief of RIMPAC 2018.  As the world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity that helps participants foster and sustain the cooperative relationships critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.  The exercise also provides insights about multi-lateral interoperability, identifying capability gaps and opportunities to improve the performance of the combined force.

At the end of the day there will be an informal reception where attendees and participants can meet to discuss the day’s events.
