AFFIRM Career & Job Shadow Day

Join AFFIRM at our annual Federal Career IT Day, introducing college students to careers and opportunities in Federal information technology (IT).

This year, students will hear from upper-level IT executives across the federal government.

Students who attend the AFFIRM Federal Career IT Day will be given a leg up on employment opportunities within the Federal workforce. Participants will hear from past attendees, get tips from those who make hiring decisions within their agencies, and learn what the future holds for Federal IT professionals. This is a unique opportunity for students to network with Federal employees and become better prepared for the professional workforce. Lunch will be provided, courtesy of AFFIRM.

Students should remember to bring a copy of their resume as there will be Federal IT professional on-site to review them.

Job Shadow Day/Scheduled at a Later Date

Shadow days will be arranged between each student and the matched agency IT professional within two weeks of the career workshop. Students may do shadow days with multiple agencies. Scheduling of the shadow day is flexible to allow students, who may be in classes or undergoing exams, to avoid disrupting their schedules and to allow the agency IT professional to identify particularly interesting days for shadowing.

Please note: attendees must bring a government-issued ID to the Federal Career IT Workshop and the scheduled job shadow day. Student IDs will not be sufficient. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • U.S. passport or foreign government-issued passport
  • U.S. passport card
  • U.S. military ID (active duty or retired military and their dependents, and DoD civilians)
  • Permanent resident card
  • Driver's licenses or other state photo identity cards issued by Department of Motor Vehicles (or equivalent) for the sole purpose of identification

Attendance in Career Day is subject to agency approval.
