DMSMS & Standardization Conference

The objective of the DMSMS & Standardization 2011 Conference is to focus on significantly improved DMSMS and Standardization policies, procedures, guidance, and automated tools that optimize Warfighter materiel readiness, and includes activities required to attain this goal such as Value Engineering, Product Support and Total Life Cycle Management, Parts Management, and mitigating the Counterfeiting epidemic on parts, material, and materiel. To meet this objective our approaches to managing the ever-present obsolescence problem must be examined.

Life Cycle Management of the future will require improving weapon system product support with ongoing reset of today's major systems, and more effective life cycle sustainment planning of future systems. The defense drawdown will significantly impact military acquisition and sustainment planning for the foreseeable future. The US deficit situation will increase fiscal restraint that will ripple throughout our national industrial base. This situation creates opportunities for technical initiatives throughout the Total Life Cycle for obtaining greater efficiency and productivity to better meet the constant changes in industrial base capabilities.

As the military seeks a quicker, more lethal Warfighting capability within affordability constraints, we must also implement business practices that respond to materiel readiness issues rapidly and efficiently. Utilization of modern information technology to anticipate problems and share solutions is a critical requirement to maintain the Warfighter's full mission capability. This conference will present an opportunity to hear the views of military and industrial leaders on what will be required to support the modern Warfighter and a forum to discuss the best programmatic, technical and logistical approaches.
