CPARS: What Every Contractor Needs To Know Webinar

This event qualifies for 1.5 CLPs

As part of the government’s administration of Federal prime contracts, the government is required to assess a contractor’s performance at prescribed intervals for contracts at certain dollar thresholds.  The official system for evaluating Federal contractor performance is the Contractor Performance Assessment System, also known by its acronym “CPARS.”

CPARS is a web-enabled application that collects and manages the library of automated Contractor Performance Assessment Reports.  The government assesses a contractor’s performance and provides a record, both positive and negative, on a given contractor during a specific period of time.  Each assessment is based on objective facts and supported by program and contract management data, such as cost performance reports, customer comments, quality reviews, technical interchange meetings, financial solvency assessments, construction/production management reviews, contractor operations reviews, functional performance evaluations, and earned contract incentives.

Created by the U.S. Navy in 1998, CPARS became the official government-wide system for assessing and reporting contractor performance, effective January 15, 2019, when the Past Performance Information Retrieval System (PPIRS) merger was completed with CPARS.

Do you know why CPARS is important to your company?  CPARS is relied on extensively by Federal contracting officers to review contractor past performance in order to make informed business decisions when awarding new contracts/orders.

In this fast-paced 90-minute webinar, participants will be provided with the history of past performance in Federal contracting, an overview of CPARS, the types of evaluations used in CPARS, reporting frequency, and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) coverage for CPARS.  In addition, the webinar will cover evaluation rating definitions for performance, as well the evaluation rating definition for socioeconomic performance.  Participants will also learn when and how they can challenge a CPARS rating.

Past performance is critical to responsibility determinations in Federal contracting.  Make sure you understand the significance of CPARS to your company.
