The Children’s Inn at NIH Announces 7th Annual “An Evening for Hope” Gala

— A Partner in Groundbreaking Medical Research for Children —

BETHESDA, Md. — December 10, 2019 — The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) announced its 7th Annual “An Evening for Hope” Gala is set for Saturday, April 25, 2020, at The Ritz-Carlton, Tysons Corner. The Gala brings together 800 supporters, including more than 100 senior government executives, who are helping to make childhood possible by reducing the burden of illness on families, and accelerating medical research at the NIH to bring about new treatments and cures.

“In many instances, coming to the NIH is the child’s best hope for a successful treatment or a cure,” said Jennie Lucca, CEO, The Children’s Inn at NIH. “That’s why, at The Children’s Inn, we offer ‘a place like home,’ by providing accommodations, meals, and thoughtfully planned programs for seriously ill children, their parents, siblings and caregivers. Families stay as long as they need, always free of cost while receiving groundbreaking medical treatments at the NIH.”

An important NIH partner in medical discovery, The Children’s Inn is a private nonprofit located on the NIH campus that provides free lodging, meals and recreational and therapeutic support to seriously ill children and young adults participating in clinical research studies at the NIH. Since its inception in 2013, An Evening for Hope has raised more than $8.2 million to benefit families in need.

“The NIH plays a vital role in improving the health of people all over the world and advancing medical discoveries for both serious and rare illnesses,” said Todd Pantezzi, An Evening for Hope Gala chair, Children’s Inn trustee and a vice president at Perspecta. “The Gala is a momentous opportunity for us to come together to make sure seriously ill children and their families are given the housing and support they deserve during the most difficult time in their lives.”
