Even before COVID-19, women faced unique barriers towards achieving financial security, such as navigating the gender wage gap, caregiving and child care costs, and longevity. The pandemic and resulting recession only exacerbated these issues. Women are now unemployed at higher rates and are more likely to work on the frontlines, putting themselves and their financial security at risk. Women of color, in particular, have been disproportionately affected by these challenges.
