TV SPECIALISTS, INC. ANNOUNCES ADVANCED DIGITAL CINEMATOGRAPHY

                                                      SEMINAR SPONSORED BY SONY

Free seminar will showcase Sony's latest large sensor Super 35mm digital motion cameras and explore the creative potential and technical aspects of digital filmmaking.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, August 1, 2011 -  TV Specialists, Inc. announced today that a freeseminar on advanced digital cinematography will be held in Salt Lake City on August 30th at 2:00 p.m.  Sony, who helped invent digital motion camera technology, will have representatives on hand to help answer and clarify any questions on their new technology and cameras.

Two new super 35mm cameras, the PMW-F3 and the NEX-FS100, will be shown and demonstrated along with the extremely successful 1/2" PMW-EX3 and PMW-EX1R. The transition to digital from traditional 35mm film has been hindered by the lack of affordable and cost effective large sensor super 35mm size sensors without the side effects of aliasing, moiré, and some of the work-arounds inherent with using DSLRs for motion capture. The challenge with traditional video cameras for creative filmmaking applications have included such limitations as depth-of field control, wide dynamic range, use of PL mount lenses, and the ability to record the full depth of color space. These challenges have now successfully been overcome and in some cases exceed what was possible with traditional techniques.

This seminar will explore these new capabilities along with camera sensitivity, shutter speeds, shutter angles, and frame rates.  Those attending will see and learn about the capability and range of creative options now available with these new products. With the recent introduction of the NEX-FS100 camera, Sony has opened the door to entry level and affordable yet highly capable digital filmmaking applications including independent film , music video, and corporate communications.  The PMW-F3 super 35mm digital camera has set a new bench mark for sensitivity, dynamic range, and extremely clean, noise-free images with the professional production community. Just released by Sony is the new S-log and 4:4:4 color option for the PMW-F3 camera which allows the full dynamic range of the sensor and RGB color depth to be captured on optional recorders for exceptional wide exposure latitude and rich, sharp color.

The seminar will also explore the gamma curve settings of each camera and how they can be used  in the creative process to create the desired "look" and emotional feel of the finished product.  By using the "picture profiles" in each camera, settings can be established which include frame rates, shutter angles, color looks, and gamma curves for emulating various film stocks and creative freedom. The seminar will last approximately 2 hours and there will be time following the seminar for actual hands-on with the cameras and one-on-one questions regarding the seminar material. The seminar is provided free with advanced registration at www.tvspecialists.com/SonySeminar.html or one may call 801 486-5757 and register by phone.
