Data, Digital Identity and Privacy: How to Balance the Three Competing Demands
This event qualifies for 3 CPEs
The federal government has been working to update its policies, architectures and frameworks around digital identity for some time. OMB revised its Identity Credential and Access Management guide in May of 2019 and that National Institute for Standards and Technology has been working on an updated version of its guidance on security and privacy controls for information systems.
Then, the pandemic hit, and all programs went into overdrive as agencies needed to find a way to verify identity of their employees and contractors who were now working remotely, coordinate access to appropriate data from many new endpoints and make sure that the privacy of all was preserved.
Learn what has already been accomplished and what is in the works in this effort to build a system for cross government identity verification management and exchange.
Attendees will come away with an improved ability to:
- Apply NIST’s revised SP 800-53 guidance
- Utilize GSA’s work to maintain and manage the Federal ICAM Architecture and accredit products
- What lessons can be gained from how DOD is consolidating and managing ICAM systems
- The role that RPA and AI tools play in data privacy
- How citizens are gaining control of their digital identity
