Air Power in Irregular Warfare
Modifying platforms and doctrine to improve the utility of air power in irregular conflicts
Defence IQ is delighted to announce its 2nd annual Air Power in Irregular Warfare conference. Building on the success of last year's event, APIW 2011 will continue to provide coverage of the latest doctrinal developments whilst also evaluating the wide array of platforms and systems that can be utilised in counter insurgency operations.
Highlights of our 2011 event include:
- Multinational feedback from a variety of theatres, including Afghanistan and North Africa, addressing doctrinal modifications and aircraft upgrades required to improve the capabilityof air assets in asymmetric environments
- A comprehensive assessment of the assets used by the Royal Air Force's in current areas of irregular warfare, from ISR platforms to Attack Helicopters, and how the RAF is looking to adapt its structureto account for operations against irregular forces
- Learn about the latest developments in fixed wing light strike capability with presentations from the US LAAR programme office and the Philippines Air Force
- Hear about the USMC's experience with its new "roll-on/roll-off" Harvest Hawk gunship capability for the KC-130s, and contrast the utility of this platform with dedicated AC-130 gunship assets operated by US AFSOC
