The core goal of any public sector healthcare facility is to provide the best possible care for their patients. But those facilities are also charged with the safekeeping of their patient’s medical data and personal information. Exactly how that data should be protected is tightly defined through regulations like the electronic protected health information rules as well as laws like the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Most public sector healthcare organizations also follow government security frameworks for data handling such as those outlined in the NIST Special Publication 800-111’s Guide to Storage Encryption Technologies for End User Devices.

Keeping that data safe has become increasingly more challenging. The pandemic has fostered a huge uptick in telemedicine, which added millions of user-controlled devices to many healthcare networks. And attacks are increasing in both number and sophistication, with reports from firms like IDC and the Ponemon Institute showing healthcare as one of the most attacked fields, especially for nefarious attacks like ransomware.

This special two-hour program will look at ways to transform government through data, explore how telehealth is protecting the privacy of individual’s data, and lessons learned from the pandemic.
