2022 CMMC Forum | Potomac Officers Club
In 2020, the Department of Defense released its Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification framework to protect the country’s vital defense industrial base from increasingly frequent, severe and complex cyberattacks that continue to pose threats to national security.
The CMMC framework aligns with the Biden administration’s Executive Order on Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity, which contains an urgent call for federal government agencies, as well as private sector companies, to highly prioritize cybersecurity initiatives and meet heightened event logging maturity model requirements.
Recently, the CMMC program has undergone major updates and strategic realignment efforts. Now, responsibility and oversight of the CMMC program has been delegated to John Sherman, DOD’s chief information officer and acting chief digital artificial intelligence officer. The realignment is expected to increase the CMMC program’s integration with other cybersecurity programs and strengthen the security of the defense industrial base.
As the CMMC framework continues to evolve to meet changing cybersecurity guidelines and standards, organizations must continue to adapt in order to remain compliant.
Potomac Officers Club’s CMMC Forum will explore how federal and industry leaders are working to achieve CMMC compliance in response to new requirements, updated frameworks and emerging challenges as cybersecurity continues to remain at the forefront of the nation’s priorities.
