Preparing for a Forensic Interview of a Child: What Criminal Justice Professionals Need to Know

Preparation for a forensic interview is important in conducting the best interview possible.  Gathering information from patrol officers, child protection caseworkers, and caretakers about the child and the allegation is crucial in deciding on the interview strategy.  This webinar will focus on getting the information important for the interview, and how it can improve the quality of the interview and the investigation.

Participants will learn the following:

  • What information is important to know before the child’s interview.
  • How reliable case facts may be incorporated into cued-recall questions.
  • Identifying possible alternative explanations to explore in the child’s interview.
  • What case situations may require the use of a forensic interview specialist.
