Overview of the Workshop: 

The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) 25 Point Plan for IT Management Reform requires the use of a Modular Development Methodology and many Agencies are deploying an Agile Project Management methodology.    This workshop is designed to help you organization answer these questions:

 

  • How do I ensure I don’t burden my Agile development team with unnecessary project scheduling, schedule statuses, change management, and reporting?
  • How do I realize the significant benefits of a Modular Development (Agile Project Management) process while still complying with OMB, Agency, or Program reporting requirements?
  • How do I manage the total project and not just the work managed using an Agile development methodology?
  • How do I track costs and forecast my cost at completion?

Speaker and Presenter Information

Kevin Martin President KM Systems Group Mr. Martin’s experience spans more than 25 years of planning and implementing information-driven business improvements for Fortune 200 clients and major government agencies, by employing business process improvement and systems integration solutions. His program management work has included all phases of the information systems development lifecycle, from strategic planning through the design, development, and implementation of large-scale systems. Prior to founding KM Systems Group, Mr. Martin was Senior Vice-President and Global Chief Knowledge Officer at KPMG Consulting, where he served on the Executive and Operating Committee along with other key executives and industry practice leaders. He specialized in the project management of major software development programs, and developed KPMG’s Program and Project Management methodologies. Additionally, Mr. Martin has extensive experience in EVM implementation and helped to develop the EVM standard. Information Technology Association of America Member Board of Directors 1998-2001 Vice-Chairman, Federal Systems Committee 1997-1998 Project Management Institute, EVM Community of Practice Training Track Coordinator, National Conference 2003-Present National Defense Industrial Association Program Management Systems Committee 1996-Present Professional Certifications: Certified Data Processor, Data Processing Management Association Education: Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Computer Science from Colgate University Dave Scott Managing Director KM Systems Group Mr. Scott is a managing director of business development at KM Systems Group. He has more than 25 years of experience with both government and commercial customers in the implementation of systems and processes to improve IT management processes. He is regarded for his knowledge of Project Portfolio Management, Capital Planning and Investment Control, Earned Value Management, and Business Process Improvement. He is responsible for ensuring that customers achieve significant, measurable results by implementing a performance based measurement system and utilizing the latest enabling software solutions to improve project and earned value management processes. Prior to joining KMSG, Mr. Scott served in a similar role at Deltek, a leading provider of enterprise application software. He has also held senior-level positions at Primavera Systems, Inc., Open Text, SAP North America, and Oracle. Mr. Scott participates in a number of project management associations including PMI, NDIA PMSC; and more broadly in ACT/IAC and the Professional Services Council. Education: BBA from Loyola Marymount University
