Princeton Open Hackathon

Together with NVIDIA and OpenACC organization, Princeton University will host a virtual Open Hackathon starting June 14 and concluding June 23, 2023. Open Hackathons provide exciting opportunities for scientists to accelerate their AI or HPC research under the guidance of expert mentors from national laboratories, universities and industry leaders in a collaborative environment.

The goal of the Open Hackathon is for computational scientists to port, accelerate and optimize their scientific applications to modern computer architectures, including CPUs, GPUs and other computing technologies. Participating teams should leave the event either with their applications accelerated and/or optimized on the latest supercomputing hardware or a clear roadmap of the next steps needed to leverage these resources.

All fields are welcomed, from astrophysics to machine learning to genomics. Although Princeton and Princeton-area teams will be given priority, a Princeton affiliation is not required. Prior Hackathon participants are also encouraged to apply! However, such teams should explicitly mention in their applications the additional value they hope to gain from attending the Hackathon again.

The Princeton Open Hackathon will be hosted online with all times in Eastern Time (ET) zone. Each team will work with mentors on their project and will present their daily progress to all participants during the SCRUM sessions. All communications and collaborations will be conducted via Zoom, Slack and email.
